Parks and playspaces that grow with the community
Tucked into a lively green nook of Donnybrook, Katalia Estate’s parks and playspaces offer children of every age and stage opportunities to play, explore and grow with confidence.
Katalia’s first park, Alloca Park, introduced a dynamic playground designed to challenge and excite older children. But as the community blossomed, so too did the need for a dedicated space where younger kids could safely experience the joy of play.
Playground Centre was once again trusted to help deliver a tailored solution for the junior play zone in River Red Gum Park, developed as part of Katalia Stage 205. Collaborating with Urban Edge Landscape Architects and ULS Group to create yet another adventure-filled nature play experience in River Red Gum Park — and strengthen Katalia’s reputation for family-friendly green spaces.
Custom-made for development
Playground Centre worked closely with the project team from concept through to installation, helping to shape a playspace in River Red Gum Park that’s safe, fun and developmentally appropriate for younger children. We adapted elements from our existing range with smart modifications and customisations — including finishes and colours that tie the two playspaces in the two parks together.
- Modified Twig Stack – A timber climbing cluster custom-designed with rope netting to encourage play that develops strength, coordination and confidence.
- Wobbly Wood 2-Bay Swing – Featuring vandal-resistant strap and toddler seats to support inclusive and safe swinging for young children.
- Whirlpool Climbing Carousel – Bright and compact, this low-level spinning carousel safely builds balance skills.
- Wobbly Wood Cow Rocker – A spring rocker with a friendly cow design inspired by the sprawling grassy field that surrounds the park.
The play experience in Alloca Park was also brought to life with a combination of bespoke and standard pieces of equipment. This included the custom-made Wobbly Wood Tower and Rope Course with over a dozen activities specially designed to engage primary-to-high school aged children in active, healthy play.
Crafted from sustainable materials and designed with both fun and function in mind, each item ticks the box for play value, safety, durability and ease of maintenance.
