It is important to us that our playgrounds are fun, challenging and a place for kids to enjoy.”
New Plymouth District Council
In collaboration with New Plymouth District Council, the Playground Centre team’s creative and solution-driven process delivered a reinvigorated play space tailor-made to cater to the growing New Plymouth community, offering an engaging area to play and connect.
Collaboration
The original playground was installed in 2003 and had been enjoyed by local children and families for decades. The Council recognised that the area was in need of a lift and saw the opportunity to create a contemporary play space for the community to enjoy for years to come.
New Plymouth District Council’s vision was for a playground that would be suitable for toddlers and teens alike; a space to bring family and friends together to play, strengthen family bonds and community ties. Our creative team put forth a proposal that incorporated sensory and interactive pieces alongside adventure-driven, imagination-fuelled equipment.
Solution
Ship ahoy! The playground’s central focus is a 5.3m Pirate Tower where adventurers can clamber to giddy heights, engaging in imaginative play with high-sea battles against sea monsters and enemy pirates. Featuring a rope climbing frame providing access to the crow’s nest, the tower is the perfect piece for thrill-seekers to challenge their skills.
A tiny toddler tower features a mini slide, crawl-through tunnel and counting abacus.
The ground level access makes it easy for toddlers to climb in and move through the various stations before scooting down the slippery dip. The easy-to-grip abacus and wooden shop counter encourage imagination and creativity, inviting toddlers to engage in social and collaborative play.
And of course, no playground would be complete without a swing set to soar sky-high and the Bromley Place Reserve does not disappoint. A fabulous Timba 3-bay Swing is fun for the whole family with a vandal resistant strap swing seat and flying saucer basket that can hold solo flyers, or a whole troop of kids.
The playground also turns playtime into fun learning with the educational Interactive Play Panels. Kids can learn to tell time with the Clockwork Play Panel and engage in a playful challenge of who can be the first to get five wins with the Rock Paper Scissors Play Panel to test and develop their hand-eye co-ordination. Ideal for all ages, stages and abilities, these high-quality, heavy-duty panels with numeracy and literacy-based activities are purposefully designed to enhance cognition and co-ordination. These panels are also proven to support social development by encouraging teamwork.
In consultation with New Plymouth District Council, we have created a rejuvenated and invigorating fun play experience in Bromley Place Playground for everyone – young, old and in-between – to enjoy.
