Inspiring play, learning and inclusion
Al-Bayan Bilingual School is a forward-thinking Arabic–English learning community, committed to nurturing students with the intellectual and social skills to thrive in Kuwait and beyond.
The school’s leadership wanted a playground for their Preschool-aged students that challenged, inspired, and engaged every child, while reflecting the school’s values of inclusion and care. Their vision was a single, but multi-zoned playspace where children of all abilities could socialise and play together.
Playground Centre worked closely with the school to select age-appropriate equipment and oversee its installation – ensuring the vision was realised from concept to completion.
A collaboration across continents
From the outset, this project was a true partnership, combining the school’s educational vision with Playground Centre’s design and build expertise. Our experience in project management and international installations ensured the playground was delivered on time, on budget, and to world-class standards.
Close communication was maintained with the school and local installation team throughout. All equipment was pre-assembled and labelled in New Zealand to streamline on-site construction. Our Technical Manager, Glenn Neal, also travelled to Kuwait to guide the installation, working with the school’s contractor to complete construction, with soft fall surfacing installed over the school holidays – ready for the new term.
Inclusive play in action
The new playground at Al-Bayan Bilingual School is more than a place to play – it’s a dynamic play-based learning environment that brings children together, encourages physical activity and fosters whole child development. Designed for preschoolers aged 4-5 years, the space balances challenge and accessibility to ensure every child can join the fun.
Shaded areas provide comfort in Kuwait’s climate, while soft fall surfacing and vibrant green mounds encourage children to run, roll, climb, and explore. Complemented by a combination of modular play structures and sensory play elements that support multiple types of play and development benefits:
- Active and physical play – Two adventure towers with a variety of activity stations, including the Adventure Run 170, inspire movement and discovery.
Exploratory and imaginative play – Wobbly , Convex, and Concave mirrors, interactive play panels, and themed play elements stimulate curiosity and creativity. - Social and collaborative play – Musical instruments provide a multi-sensory experience that encourage self-expression and support cognitive development.
The result is a playspace where students of all abilities can play, explore, and connect in a safe, engaging environment – supporting their physical, cognitive, social, and emotional growth and reflecting the school’s vision and values.
